The question was recently asked of me, "Why do you love writing?" How boring could something be? Right?
WRONG! I love writing and you should, too. Some of the reasons I love writing include the creation of the characters. My characters come alive on the page for me and I love that. Even though I outline, occasionally I'll write something, and I'll just say to myself, "Wow, he did that?" The surprises are fun.
I even enjoy the rewriting and editing. It's like taking a stone and slowly sculpting it into something that looks alive . . . a living statue. Nothing could be more fun for me. And how about the real people I use on occasion as models for my characters, and they don't even realize it!
Also, the conversations that the people in my books have are very fun to write. Every character has a personality and a different speech pattern. Maybe they are arrogant, or rude, or just plain nice. I have to keep them like that, unless the story asks for a divergence from the norm. And that is for me to decide.
So, writing is a wonderful thing for me, and it could be for you, too. I'll include some links on my site that should help you and me, as well, grow as writers. Let me know which links you find most helpful.
Also, you'll find below, the prologue to my book, "The Dragon King Rises." Don't worry. The rest of the book is not like the prologue. I was just determined to write histories of the people, and this is what I got. See what you think, and if you want a signed copy of the book, let me know and I'll see what I can do for you.
